13 new features added.
I have my own business mailbox but, like many of you, also have a Gmail account. Users of the Google mail service are in for a treat. Google has announced the release of 13 new enhancements to your mail account. The addons are available in the ‘labs’ tab of Gmail.
Let’s have a look at some of the offerings:
- A quick-link tool - allows you to bookmark specific Gmail messages
- Superstars - custom stars selection to label mail
- The ‘email addict’ - lock yourself out of your email account for 15 minute…hmmm!
- A fixed-width font option to view a message within a font whose characters are the same width — not sure but apparently it’s good for formatting challenges
- Mouse gestures - take actions based on mouse movement
- Custom keyboard shortcuts
- Signature tweaks - add a signature file above quoted text in an email reply
- ‘Muzzle’ - conserves buddy-list screenspace usage by hiding status messages
Google is planning to open the system to outside developers in order for them add more custom features - if they can find a way to integrate the code.
