The latest version of the Open Source browser has taken 34 months of development to get it ready for the prime time.

Mozilla, the parent organisation, is hoping to break the world record for software downloads when version 3 hits the streets. The Firefox community, which numbers about 175 million users worldwide, is being encouraged to sign up to the Mozilla marketing site. This will allow them to receive the download on the release date. In addition, Mozilla is asking subscribers to host download parties and place Firefox badges on their websites and blogs.

As one of the 43,362 Firefox users in the UK I will be adding a Firefox logo to my site soon.
